Our new recruits

Tahir Mohammed, Pathology Practice Education Facilitator

I’m Tahir, a Practice Educator Facilitator (PEF) for Pathology services in South East Wales. I have over 15 years’ experience in diagnostic pathology, both in the public and private sector.  I joined ABUHB as a Biomedical Scientist in 2006 and progressed to a Biochemistry senior, acquiring a position as a training officer and automation lead. I then went on to manage the All Wales IP5 Covid Laboratory in Newport and then to work for Siemens as a Product Health Manager.

My key interests include teaching, service improvement and innovation, and I believe passionately in diagnostics being a facilitator for clinical decision making.

I am looking forward to taking on this new challenge, especially as our pathology services are under immense pressure. I plan to contribute to the ongoing work the National Pathology Programme is undertaking with a focus on developing a sustainable workforce, training and education across all disciplines. I am keen to hear of the issues surrounding training across pathology with the aim to providing a solution. I feel privileged to be working with the Programme to make a positive impact for our service providers and service users.

Lauren O’Gorman, Business Intelligence

I’m Lauren, an Advanced Health Intelligence Analyst for the Health Intelligence Service supporting Networks and Planning. I have recently completed a master’s degree in data science and analytics and have ten years’ experience working in health intelligence, having previously worked at the Welsh Cancer Intelligence and Surveillance Unit, the Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre and the Vaccine Preventable Disease Programme.

I’m passionate about making complex data accessible and understandable.  My goal is to foster a culture of data literacy which sees health data not just as information but as a strategic asset that empowers informed decision-making.

Outside of work, you will find me enjoying the outdoors with my three children when the weather allows, or reading crime fiction when it doesn’t.
