The refreshed programme of work will continue to support Health Boards and Trusts in discharging their duties under the 2016 Act, with a focus on reviewing the metrics for reporting and addressing the issue of the uni-professional nature of the Act verses the multi-professional nature of workforce planning within section 25B areas.
Work will be undertaken to map the use of workforce planning tools and develop operational guidance to support use of the triangulated approach which will provide a more consistent approach to workforce planning within section 25A areas.
The programme will ensure alignment to national programmes of work, contribute to the delivery of the wider workforce agenda, and maximise use of the wealth of data and workforce intelligence that has been collected through the programme, to drive workforce transformation and inform workforce modelling across NHS Wales.
The core programme team will co-ordinate and enable the delivery of the refreshed programme plan for the All-Wales Nurse Staffing Programme. Through the All-Wales Nurse Staffing Group progress against the delivery plan will be monitored and reported through the governance framework to the Deputy Directors of Nursing, the Executive Directors of Nursing and the Office of the Chief Nurse for Wales.
