Resources

There are a number of resources that can help you when carrying out a Cancer Care Review.

You can adapt this template letter to send to your patients inviting them in for a CCR.

With the development of new cancer treatments it is very difficult for primary care clinicians to know what actions to take when patients present with new symptoms.

Some of these actions should be immediate. It is important that you familiarise yourself with them.

The Macmillan and UK Oncology Nursing Society have developed the Oncology / Haematology Treatment Toxicity Risk Assessment Tool  to support you.

For further ideas view the Macmillan Primary Care 10 Top Tips – Carrying out an effective Cancer Care Review.

Here are three useful Macmillan websites you can sign up to as a primary care professional:

  • My Macmillan -  cancer information and support and an online community your patients can join
  • Be Macmillan - you can create an account to order booklets and merchandise for you and your patients. The leaflets are free, and can be delivered to your patient’s home address if they wish
  • LearnZone - for free learning resources, online courses and professional development tools.
