National future care planning peer forum for Wales

A national peer forum event for Wales around Future Care Planning was held in Cardiff on 27 March.

The event was organised and hosted by the National Palliative and End of Life Care Programme, which will be leading and coordinating the national strategy and related work for future care planning.

It brought together key stakeholders and professionals working in palliative, end of life care and advance care planning, along with policy makers, Welsh government representatives and volunteer groups, to debate new ideas and definitions.

Prof Taubert, chair of the Future Care Planning Strategy Group for NHS Wales, chaired the event and speakers included professor of palliative medicine Baroness Finlay, Rhiannon Matthews, Professional Advisor for Frailty and Integrated Systems with Welsh Government, and Professor Anthony Byrne, palliative care consultant and researcher.

For a full write-up of the event, read Professor Mark Taubert's blog on the British Medical Journal website.
