National Palliative and End of Life Care Programme

The National Palliative and End of Life care Programme provides national leadership and support and acts as a forum to drive forward change and oversee health boards’ efforts to deliver the Welsh Government’s vision for improving end of life care in Wales.

This is our vision for palliative and end of life care delivered in Wales for all who need it by people working closely together, at home when appropriate, determined by what matters to the person and underpinned by what works.

We want people to be able to end their days in the location of their choice – be that home, hospital or hospice and we want them to have access to high quality care wherever they live and die, whatever their underlying disease or disability.

Our work is informed by the Quality Statement for Palliative and End of Life Care and we are working with stakeholders to implement and deliver this work.
