About us

The Macmillan Primary Care Cancer Framework was set up in 2015 to address the changing nature of cancer and its treatment.

More people than ever are surviving cancer and many of these will need ongoing support in primary care.

We support the expanding role of GPs, nurses and other community-based care in providing cancer care services to their patients. We do this by:

  • Designing and delivering educational events
  • Promoting best practice both locally and nationally
  • Leading quality improvement projects
  • Providing a voice for primary care.

We are a strategic partnership programme between all health boards in Wales and Velindre NHS Trust, Wales Cancer Network, Welsh Government and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Our work links with many networks and groups such as Health Education and Improvement Wales, Royal College of GPs and Wales Cancer Alliance in order to improve cancer care in Wales.
