Performance and Assurance

Working with Welsh Government, the Performance and Assurance directorate assists NHS Wales organisations to continually improve and sustain their performance against national performance, quality and safety requirements.

Financial Planning and Delivery

Ensuring financial sustainability and delivery, alongside maximising the impact and use of health and social care spending in Wales. 

Networks and Planning

Delivering Ministerial directions and priorities via the National Clinical Framework, supported by strategic clinical and implementation networks and programmes.

Quality, Safety and Improvement

Translating the policy direction and standards set by Welsh Government into action that improves the quality and safety of healthcare in Wales.

Strategic Programme for Planned Care

Leading the national programme and developing an implementation plan for the delivery of the five goals of planned care. 

Strategic Programme for Mental Health

Improving safety and outcomes by reducing unwarranted service variation, whilst working towards equity and parity between physical and mental health services. 

Six Goals for Urgent and Emergency Care National Programme

The Six Goals Programme oversees delivery of the six policy goals that span the urgent and emergency care pathway.

Strategic Programme for Primary Care

Co-ordinating the implementation of the Primary Care Model for Wales and working collaboratively with health, social care and other partners and stakeholders.

Digital, Data, Technology, Innovation and Value

A new directorate bringing together staff from the Welsh Value in Health Centre as well as staff from Technology Enabled Care (TEC) Cymru (joining in September 2024).
