Genomics

The All Wales Genomics Oncology Group (AWGOG) is a multidisciplinary group with representation from adult and paediatric oncologists, haematologists, histopathology, pharmacy, the All Wales Medical Genomics Service (AWMGS), Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee (WHSSC), All Wales Therapeutics and Toxicology Centre (AWTTC) and the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG).

We aim to facilitate a coordinated national approach to the implementation of oncology-specific genomics services.  The development of standardised, all Wales, evidence-based genomic testing pathways will provide clinical teams across Wales with the required information and tools to ensure appropriate patients with a cancer diagnosis can access testing in a timely, consistent and equitable manner. This will ultimately allow clinicians to identify individuals who may benefit from personalised medicine -  targeted anticancer therapy guided  by the patient’s unique genetic information.
